Good Morning, Parents…
Note from Mr. Lempa: Volunteerism is an important part of our faith (Philippians 2:3-4), which is why we have made community service an important part of CCS. The current 2014-15 school year has four half days scheduled for service projects, and this week we are having our year’s third project on Friday. This is a school day on our academic calendar, and students are required to be present.
With this in mind, please be advised that our Community Service Project for this Friday, February 13th has changed. We are no longer able to visit the nursing home and assisted living facilities due to high incidences of influenza and the risk to both patients and students.
Instead, we will work on making games/toys for the Mexico mission trip Mrs. Baerlocher will be going on this summer. A list of supplies that are needed to complete these projects is listed below. If you have any of these items that you are willing to donate, please drop them by the school office before Friday morning.
In addition, Kurt Hanusa will be leading the students in several fun activities designed to build “community” and “team work” among the student body.
Volunteers are still needed to help with the service project and to help supervise the game time. Please let the office know if you are able to help.
Supply List for games/toys we will be making:
- Jenga game pieces
- Colored socks (solid)
- Colored socks (patterned)
- Felt – variety of colors
- Google Eyes
- Batting – for stuffing toys
Thank you in advance for your help and support of this special day.
