Parent/Teacher Organization Meeting – TONIGHT! October 17, 6:30 p.m.
You are invited to this Monday’s PTO Meeting at CCS at 6:30pm where we’ll be introduced to the two candidates for the Board of Directors, Karen Head and Donna Ekes. Among other PTO business, the candidates will introduce themselves and take questions.
Although filling every opening is not necessary, because there are two candidates and three openings, the board will continue to receive nominations through November 9th.
Absentee ballots will be available in the school office November 14-18th. Each family receives one ballot. The election will take place at the PTO Meeting at CCS on November 21st at 6:30pm.
Drinking Water Lead Exceedance
Regular water testing has found an elevated level of lead from one of the faucets at CCS. The elevated levels were only found in one faucet (the mop sink in the kitchen utility room) out of five that were sampled, and was likely caused by a failure to properly flush that faucet. The water from all other faucets and drinking fountains remains safe to drink, and additional monitoring will be performed. The enclosed brochure is a DNR educational requirement. Please contact Administrator Dale Lempa with any questions.
Kindergarten Field Trip – Country Bumpkin Farm Market – Tuesday, October 18th
The trip to Country Bumpkin Farm Market in Wisconsin Dells is tomorrow, Tuesday, October 18th. Students will need good walking shoes and can wear jeans with their royal blue uniform top for this trip. A disposable sack lunch and a water bottle are also needed.
Grandparents Day – Wednesday, October 19th – Volunteers Needed!
Message from our coordinator, Eli Anderson: “Grandparents’ Day is almost upon us. This coming Wednesday, October 19th, CCS will be hosting grandparents and special friends during chapel time. Our invited guests will get an inside look into what goes on at our school. With the day fast approaching, we are in need of some volunteers to help host/serve our family and friends. The morning consists of setting out treats and beverages, keeping water filled, and then help with clean up afterwards. The more people we have will only make for lighter work. I am looking for help between the hours of 7:45 until noon. We were not at the school this late last year; we were done before 11. Any time you can give will be helpful, if you can only do two hours, that’s fine. Please let me know. These hours do go towards your volunteer hours for the school. If you have any questions or are able to help, please contact me. Thank you!” You can reach Eli Anderson at 262-442-6318 (text messages welcome) or firstname.lastname@example.org
Box Tops Classroom Challenge – Now through Wednesday, October 19th
Last push to turn in Box Tops for this challenge! Each classroom is collecting Box Tops to see which room can collect the most. The winning classroom will enjoy a special prize.
Long-term Planning Committee Meeting – Monday, October 24th – 6:30 pm
The board is establishing a Long-term Planning Committee to begin developing a long-term plan for the school. This is part of the school’s self-study for WRISA accreditation, but also important to the school’s long-term health and success. Anyone interested in contributing is welcome to join.
Parent/Teacher Conferences – November 3rd & 4th
Letters were sent home in last week’s take-home folder to schedule your student’s conference time. If you have not turned in your form yet, please complete and return immediately. Final confirmation of conference times will be sent home next week. We do everything we can to schedule conferences according to your preferences, but this may not always be possible. We appreciate your flexibility.
Blood Drive – November 3rd – 2 to 6 pm
CCS is partnering with the American Red Cross to host a Blood Drive here at the school. You can register online to donate: www.redcrossblood.org – enter sponsor code “Baraboo” in the red box on the home page (entering a zip code will not work for our blood drive), then select Community Christian School. Contact the school office if you need assistance. Each student who recruits one presenting donor (use forms that were sent home last week) will receive a Red Cross baseball cap!
Craft & Vendor Fair – November 5th, 9 am to 3 pm
Our Craft & Vendor Fair is filling up nicely. We have over 30 booths signed up so far and a few more to confirm. However, we do have a need for help with the classroom booths on the day of the event. If you are able to help out for the day or even just a few hours, please contact your classroom teacher and let them know your availability. Help with cleanup after the event is also appreciated.
Yard Signs – There are still more yard signs available for placement. Pick one up to help us cover Baraboo promoting this event.
Posters – Included in today’s take home folder is also a promotional poster, and we have more available in the school office. We would love for you to share this poster with family & friends, or post at your church, place of business, or any other visible places around town.
End-of-year Fundraising Letters
Enclosed in today’s take home folders are two copies of the end-of-year giving letter from the board president. This is one of our largest fundraisers, providing businesses and individuals an opportunity for tax-deductible charitable giving at the end of the calendar year. Please share these with family and friends.
We are looking to spruce up the front of our school with some fall decorations. If you have any of the following items you are willing to donate or lend, please contact the school office. It would be wonderful to have our entrance decorated for our grandparents and special guests this Wednesday!
