Bible-a-thon – Last Week! – Ends Thursday, September 29th
Our final Bible-a-thon assembly is this Thursday afternoon and all pledges must be turned in at the start of the day. We are getting very close to a school-wide prize, and there is still time for individuals to earn the Kalahari Party Adventure. Students should complete their reading challenge and hand in their Reading Logs by Wednesday morning, October 5th. Pledged funds need to be collected and turned in by Friday, October 14th. Ongoing monthly pledges will begin October 15th.
Lunch Order Form – Month of October
The October milk and lunch form is included in today’s take-home folder. Please complete and return the form no later than this Wednesday, September 28th, even if your student will not be ordering any milk or lunch. You may want to make a photocopy or record your selections on a calendar prior to returning the order form.
See You At The Pole – Wednesday, September 28
For the past 25 years students across the globe have gathered at their school flagpole for one simple act–PRAYER. This week Wednesday, September 28th students are welcome to gather around the flagpole at 7:00 am at CCS or at the public school, to unite in prayer before God. Please note students will not be able to enter the CCS school building until 7:45 am. Also, Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 middle and high school students are invited to attend a SYATP event at Expeditions Unlimited – E11844 County Rd DL, Baraboo. Contact Pastor Jesse Wells (608-477-2277) for more details.
Half-Day Service Project – Friday, September 30 (dismissing at 12:30)
Our first service project day is this Friday, September 30th and our focus is on missionary children. Pete & Liesl Hypki serve as missionaries in Mexico and will share about their ministry in the Nahautl Village of Las Moras. They will also talk about what it’s like to serve as a missionary family and how it has impacted their lives. In addition, CCS students will write letters and cards to children of missionaries stationed overseas.
The CCS Royals are competing in the Midas basketball league again this year. This is a casual basketball league for boys and girls 5th-8th grade focusing on teamwork and sportsmanship. The season runs late November through February, with practices after school from 3:15 to 4:30, two days a week. The teams will play 6-10 games total. If your students or any homeschool students you know are interested in participating, sign them up at barabooccs.com/midas or call the school office. Please sign up by Friday, September 30th. The girls’ team needs a coach, so please consider if you or someone you know might like to serve in that way.
Board Nomination Forms – Due this week Thursday, September 30
Nomination forms were sent home earlier this month for open positions on our Board of Directors. There are 3 three-year positions up for election this year. Completed forms are due in the office no later than this Friday, September 30th. Presentation of candidates will be held during the October PTO meeting on Monday, October 17th. The election will then be held during the November PTO meeting on Monday, November 21st.
Grandparents Day – Wednesday, October 19th
Invitations will be going out later today and tomorrow to those on our guest list. If you submitted names to be invited, you may want to check with them later this week to assure they have received an invitation. Please encourage your guests to RSVP no later than Wednesday, October 12th so we have enough treats on hand for all who attend.
Bring Your Bible To School Day – Thursday, October 6th
While CCS students are encouraged to bring their bibles to school every day as part of their studies, not all students in our country are allowed to or feel comfortable carrying their Bible in school. More than 300,000 students across the nation are expected to take part in Focus on the Family’s third annual “Bring Your Bible to School” on Thursday, October 6th. This student-led event is a simple way for children and teens to celebrate religious freedom and to share the hope and inspiration they receive from reading their Bibles. For more information about this annual event, go to www.bringyourbible.com
Cupcakes for Life – Wednesday, October 12
Students in the middle and high school classes will be handing out cupcakes at various locations around town this day. The cupcakes are in honor of all children who have never had the opportunity to celebrate their first birthday. Permission slips will go out in next week’s take-home folders.
CCS Fall Festival – November 3rd – 5th
We have expanded our Craft & Vendor Fair this year. Beginning Thursday, November 3rd Usborne Books will be set up for our annual Book Fair. Students will have opportunities throughout the day to browse the display and parents can shop during parent/teacher conferences that evening and Friday morning. We are partnering with the American Red Cross to host a Blood Drive this year as well. The Blood Drive will be held Thursday from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Our festival will culminate with the 4th Annual Craft & Vendor Fair on Saturday, November 5th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. This is a great opportunity to bring visitors to our school and show off what we have to offer here at CCS. We still have openings for more crafters at our event. If you know someone who is creative and has crafts to sell, please let them know about our event. More information and an application for the event are available in the school office.
Your help is needed! Planning is in full swing for the 2017 Gala. We are looking for a few individuals who are willing to assist in garnering auction items for our live and silent auctions. If you are interested, please contact Jaime Sundsmo at firstname.lastname@example.org
