Wow! What an honor and privilege it was to be part of the Veteran’s Day Ceremony at the Civic Center yesterday. It was a great reminder of the sacrifices made to ensure our freedoms. These freedoms allow our school to exist, and provide for our teachers to be able to educate our students based on biblical principles. As part of the ceremony, our CCS students gave a wonderful performance singing America the Beautiful. Thank you, Ms. Cross for all your hard work with the students in preparing them for this honor.
It was another special time in Chapel this morning. Mrs. Hanchek opened our time of praise and worship with songs the students have grown to love. Pastor Jesse Stevens then shared from Galatians 5:16-24 with a focus on the Fruit of the Spirit; specifically, self-control. He asked us if we are allowing God to have control of our lives; living with self-control. Are we “sober-minded?” When tempted, do we have a clear mind (sober minded) and an alert mind so we can make the right choices. We need to be watchful and self-controlled in all our dealings as we grow in the Lord.
Special points of interest:
SCHOOL CLOSINGS AND DELAYS FOR INCLEMENT WEATHER
If the school needs to close or delay opening for inclement weather, families will be notified by email; please make sure that your email addresses on file with the school are up to date. You may also check the school’s Facebook page and website where we will post the same information. Additionally, we will be listed on Channel3000, WKOW27, and NBC15. The decision will be made by 6:30 am; if there is no announcement, school will be open as usual. As a caution, CCS does NOT always for the public school district’s decision in these matters. Further details are in the Student/Parent Handbook, p.32. Also, please send your child to school with appropriate winter weather gear (hat, gloves, jacket, boots, and extra socks) as outdoor recess will continue.
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD – NOW THROUGH WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 14TH
This is our last push to get the “Operation Christmas Child” shoeboxes to the school. Anyone who will be donating a shoebox needs to bring it in by this Friday, November 14th. Informational flyers and shipping labels are included in your take-folder today. Please note that we do have the red and green shoeboxes available in the school office, but you are welcome to use your own shoebox or plastic container if you so desire. Let’s see if we can donate more than the 37 boxes we gave last year. Feel free to contact the school office with any questions.
PARENT GROUP MEETING & BOARD ELECTIONS – MONDAY, NOVEMBER 17TH – 6:30 p.m.
Election Day is upon us! Last month you were given the opportunity to hear from the candidates running for the open School Board positions. This month you get to cast your vote. Each CCS family will be given one ballot to cast a vote for up to three of the four candidates. If you were not at the last meeting and would like to know more about the candidates, a write up of each can be found in the school office. If you are not able to be at the meeting, you may cast an Absentee Ballot prior to the meeting. These Absentee Ballots are located in the school office and must be completed at the school.
See enclosed note for information about other items to be discussed during this meeting.
ARCHERY BOW RAFFLE – NOW THROUGH DECEMBER 10th

There are 900 tickets available to be sold for the Matthew’s Drenalin bow and 450 tickets available to be sold for the Genesis Bow kit. The drawing for the winning ticket will be held on Wednesday, December 17th and participants do not need to be present to win.

THANKSGIVING BREAK – WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 26TH – FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 28TH
School will be closed in honor of the Thanksgiving Holiday. This is one of my favorite holidays to celebrate as it reminds me to be thankful for all of the blessings God has given me. May your time with family be extra blessed. See you on Monday, December 1st when classes resume.
HOT LUNCH ON WEDNESDAYS – EVERY WEDNESDAY IN NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER
Elite Catering will be providing a breakfast style lunch option for our Wednesday lunch during November and December. It’s nice to have another hot meal option during the week.
CHRISTMAS PROGRAM – THURSDAY, DECEMBER 18TH – 6:30 p.m.
I hope you have marked your calendars for this night of celebration. CCS students from 4K through 12th level will be participating in this year’s program. We will have more details in the coming weeks, so watch your information in the office and/or classroom newsletter.
Volunteering at CCS is not only needed to help keep the school running, it is greatly appreciated. There are a number of ways to help; assist in classrooms (especially the K-2 room), grading papers, promoting our school in the community, helping maintain our school (cleaning, maintenance, improvements, etc.), serving on the Facilities Committee, helping with the Parent Group projects, and many other ways. Contact the school office or your student’s teacher to learn how you can help support our school through volunteer work.
There are times when our surrounding communities offer special events which are worth sharing with all of you. This new section is where we will be providing information about such events. This week we have a couple of items to share. Pastor Matt Fearson and his wife, Rachelle, who minister with the Hope through Christ Warming Center in Baraboo, have expressed a need for warm winter boots for the homeless who utilize the center. If you are able to help, or would like further information about the warming center, you can contact Pastor Fearson at 608-434-7599.
Also of interest this time of year are special celebrations of Christmas. The Cal Center in Reedsburg will be presenting Handel’s Messiah on Sunday, November 30th at 2:00 p.m. This musical presentation is unique in that its entire test is taken word-for-word form the Bible. It is one of the most popular musical works ever composed. Tickets and more information about this event can be found at www.calcenterpresents.org
If you have any questions or concerns about any of these matters, please feel free to give me a call or send me an email.
Hope you all enjoy your extended time with family this weekend!
All for Him,
CCS Administrative Assistant
