A big thank you to Pastor Chris Phillips for his message this morning in chapel. As he noted, all of us face struggles and obstacles in our lives. But like Joseph, whose story is retold in Genesis 41, we can overcome these stumbling blocks by being prepared. If we put our trust in God and give Him the glory, have an intense and deep relationship with God, forget the bad things and focus on the good, and behave with integrity and wisdom, it will be easier to overcome the trials that we encounter in life.
Mrs. Hanchek and Mrs. Kepple once again blessed our time with music this morning, as well. What joy it is to sing old Sunday school songs and learn new ones that honor our Lord and Savior. Remember, parents are always welcome to join us on Wednesday mornings for chapel.

PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES – THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 6TH & FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 7TH
Conferences have been set and you should have received your conference confirmation letter in last week’s take-home folder. Please be on time for the meeting with your student’s teacher, and be considerate of those who are scheduled after you. To help you prepare for conferences, your student’s report card is in today’s take-home folder.
CRAFT FAIR ITEMS STILL AVAILABLE!
Several of you may not have had the opportunity to stop in for our CCS Craft Fair this past Saturday. We don’t want you to miss out completely, so the remaining crafts that did not sell on Saturday will be available to purchase during the Parent/Teacher conferences on Thursday evening and Friday morning. Items will be on display in the Music/Community room, and payment can be made to me in the school office.
NO SCHOOL – FRIDAY, NOVEMEBER 7TH
Due to Parent/Teacher Conferences, there will be no school for students on Friday, (Thursday is a regular day of classes from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.). Enjoy your extended weekend.
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD – NOW THROUGH WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 14TH
Last year CCS students collectively donated 37 shoeboxes to the Samaritan’s Purse “Operation Christmas Child” shoebox program. If you would like to use one of the official red and green shoeboxes, there are plenty of them available in the school office. Informational flyers and shipping labels are also available on the table outside the office for your convenience. Shoeboxes need to be turned in by Friday, November 14th in order to have them delivered on time to the distribution center. Let’s see how many shoeboxes we can fill and donate to a worthy cause. Feel free to contact the school office with any questions.
ARCHERY BOW RAFFLE – NOW THROUGH DECEMBER 10th
Last year CCS implemented a new archery unit into the Physical Education program. Students in grade levels 4 through high school learned the basics of archery using the NASP (National Archery in School Program) standards. To help underwrite this new unit, CCS raffled off a Genesis Bow kit and a Matthew’s Bow. This was such a success we have decided to hold another raffle this year.
Similar to last year’s raffle, a set number of tickets will be given to each CCS family to sell. Should you run out of the assigned tickets, more tickets are available in the school office. Assigned tickets will be handed out to each family during Parent/Teacher conferences. The drawing for the winning ticket will be held on Wednesday, December 17th.
VETERANS’ DAY CELEBRATION – TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 11TH – 11:00 a.m. to Noon
CCS students and staff have the privilege of participating in the Veteran’s Day celebration being held at the Civic Center in downtown Baraboo. The ceremony begins at 11:00 a.m. and the students will be singing during the program. We still need more volunteers to help transport and supervise students during this patriotic event. If you have not already signed up to help, prayerfully consider helping out. Please contact the office if you are willing to drive.
PARENT GROUP MEETING & BOARD ELECTIONS – MONDAY, NOVEMBER 17TH – 6:30 p.m.
Election Day is upon us! Last month you were given the opportunity to hear from the candidates running for the open School Board positions. This month you get to cast your vote. Each CCS family will be given one ballot to cast a vote for up to three of the four candidates. If you were not at the last meeting and would like to know more about the candidates, a write up of each can be found in the school office. If you are not able to be at the meeting, you may cast an Absentee Ballot prior to the meeting. These Absentee Ballots are located in the school office and must be completed at the school.
GANDER MOUNTAIN BRAT FRY – THURSDAY, NOVEBMER 20TH and FRIDAY, NOVEBMER 21ST
CCS will be hosting a Brat Fry at Gander Mountain in West Baraboo from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on the dates listed above. We need several volunteers to help with this event; serving food, speaking with the community about CCS, selling raffle tickets. If you are able to help, please let the office or Mr. Tim Kepple, know of your availability.
THANKSGIVING BREAK – WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 26TH – FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 28TH
School will be closed in honor of the Thanksgiving Holiday. This is one of my favorite holidays to celebrate as it reminds me to be thankful for all of the blessings God has given me. May your time with family be extra blessed. See you on Monday, December 1st when classes resume.
HOT LUNCH ON WEDNESDAYS – EVERY WEDNESDAY IN NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER
Elite Catering will be providing a breakfast style lunch option for our Wednesday lunch during November and December. Students will need to order this lunch in advance using the lunch/milk order form provided each week. Thank you Mike & Deb Althen for your service and delicious food! It’s nice to have another hot meal option during the week.
CHRISTMAS PROGRAM – THURSDAY, DECEMBER 18TH – 6:30 p.m.
Mark your calendars now so you don’t miss out. CCS students from 4K through 12th level will be participating in this year’s program. More details will be provided from the office and/or your student’s classroom newsletter.
Volunteering at CCS is not only needed to help keep the school running, it is greatly appreciated. There are a number of ways to help; assist in classrooms (especially the K-2 room), grading papers, promoting our school in the community, helping maintain our school (cleaning, maintenance, improvements, etc.), serving on the Facilities Committee, helping with the Parent Group projects, and many other ways. Contact the school office or your student’s teacher to learn how you can help support our school through volunteer work.
If you have any questions or concerns about any of these matters, please feel free to give me a call or send me an email.
Hope you all enjoy your extended time with family this weekend!
All for Him,
CCS Administrative Assistant
